As an Operations Engineer at Phoenix Energy, Kobi McNutt brings eight years of oil and gas experience, backed by a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Before joining Phoenix, she worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico as a drilling and completions field engineer on drillships and platforms, gaining hands-on expertise in high-pressure, high-stakes environments. She also contributed as part of the team that drilled and completed the world’s first 20k-psi well—an achievement that highlights both her technical skill and ability to thrive in complex operations.
Originally from Kingwood, Texas, Kobi is the youngest of three sisters and moved to Denver about a year and a half ago with her dog while her family remains in Texas. What excites her most about operations is seeing engineering work come to life in the field and being part of a team that turns plans into real-world results.
Outside of work, Kobi enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and traveling. A former Division I soccer player on a full-ride scholarship, she brings that same drive and discipline into her professional life. At Phoenix Energy, she hopes to make an impact by pairing technical excellence with a collaborative mindset to help optimize well performance, support safe operations, and contribute to sustainable long-term growth.
