Matthew Billingsley is the Geoscience Manager at Phoenix Energy, bringing 12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds an M.S. in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines and has previously worked with Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) and California Resources Corporation (CRC). Since 2016, he has founded and operated multiple oil and gas exploration companies, including Windridge Operating and Long Ridge Resources.
With expertise in geological mapping, petrophysical analysis, type curve modeling, economic evaluation, and 3D seismic interpretation, Matthew has played a key role in advancing exploration and production efforts. His career achievements include starting his own business, raising private equity capital, and drilling wells in the Williston Basin and Texas Gulf Coast.
Originally from San Antonio, Matthew enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, tennis, snowboarding, and fishing. In his role at Phoenix Energy, he values the autonomy to explore new ideas and drive company growth. His goal is to become a leading geoscientist and “oil man,” helping the company reach its full potential.
