Seraphim Kupec

Landman
Seraphim Kupec is a Landman in the Operating Division of the Land department at Phoenix Energy, bringing five years of experience in land across California and Utah. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also completed a minor in Accounting and a certificate in Energy Management. Seraphim began his career through internships at Valero Supply & Trading and Berry Petroleum before joining Berry full-time as a Landman, serving as the primary landman for mineral and surface work across all California and Utah assets—a role that culminated in a standout achievement: facilitating the permitting and drilling of Berry Petroleum’s first fully operated horizontal pad in company history.
Known for his strong interpersonal communication skills, creative problem solving, and attention to detail, Seraphim thrives on the variety his work brings—no two days are the same. He is currently working toward his Certified Professional Landman designation and is focused on supporting Phoenix Energy’s Utah development and contributing to the company’s continued growth.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Seraphim is the youngest of four siblings. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoorsman—hunting, fishing, surfing, skiing, and golfing whenever the opportunity arises. A personal highlight: landing a 110 lb bluefin tuna offshore San Diego, a new personal best he is particularly proud of.
