Garrett Cox joins the Operations team at Phoenix Energy as a Production Engineer, bringing a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and a strong foundation in drilling performance and data analytics. Before joining Phoenix Energy, Garrett worked as a Drilling Optimization Engineer at Patterson-UTI, where he focused on drilling efficiency and operational performance. In one standout project, he analyzed performance data across multiple rigs, identified key inefficiencies, and partnered with field teams to drive improvements in connection times, tripping speed, and overall rig efficiency — the kind of hands-on problem-solving that defines his approach to engineering.
Garrett is energized by the opportunity to take ownership early in his career and push into new challenges with real initiative. He thrives when trusted to work independently and find solutions, and he’s driven by the goal of delivering measurable results that translate into continued growth and opportunity. Currently pursuing his Master’s in Petroleum Engineering, he brings a results-oriented mindset and a genuine eagerness to make an impact at Phoenix Energy.
Originally from Claremont, California, Garrett is close with his brother, and the two make it a point to hit the slopes together for at least one snowboarding trip each year. When he’s not in the field or the office, Garrett can be found riding dirt bikes, golfing, or out on a backpacking adventure — a range of pursuits that reflects his love for the outdoors and staying active.
