Adam Dooley brings over 30 years of capital markets and financial services experience to his role as Head of Capital Markets at Phoenix Energy. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA in Global Strategy and Leadership from IMD Business School in Switzerland. Adam launched his career at Salomon Smith Barney and went on to hold senior leadership roles at some of the industry’s most recognized institutions, including The Hartford, MetLife, and Voya Financial, working across investment management, capital markets, and distribution in the U.S., Europe, and beyond. Most recently, he served as President of Waveland Energy’s managing broker-dealer, focused on capital formation and distribution. Among his career milestones, Adam is particularly proud of building Voya’s annuity distribution business to $2.5 billion in annual sales before guiding its $1.1 billion sale — a testament to what a focused team with a clear strategy can accomplish.
At Phoenix Energy, Adam is focused on broadening investor relationships, strengthening distribution capabilities, and helping build a capital formation platform that can support the company’s long-term growth. He’s drawn to the challenge of building businesses, but it’s the people and relationships that make the work meaningful to him. Watching a team come together to pull off something that once seemed out of reach is what keeps him motivated.
Adam met his wife, Lisa, in London and eventually convinced her to trade it for Southern California. Together they have three daughters — Izzy, Francesca, and Mimi — and three cats, which he notes means there is rarely a quiet moment at home. A self-described enthusiastic but imperfect tennis player, Adam also enjoys traveling, skiing with his family, and the outdoors. He counts summiting Mount Rainier among his proudest personal achievements — an experience he’s glad he tackled when he was, as he puts it, in considerably better shape.
